     Stopped in at W.'s 10.10 A.M. W. just up—breakfast untouched so far. Replying to my query, said he felt "damnable."

     Had read Bucke's proof, which he returned to me. I did not stay. Later I found he even felt worse as the day progressed. Weather showery. He did not of course attempt to get out. Probably a cold from sitting at the door awhile last evening—and later by an open parlor window.
